Yoga for Life is an amazing 1 hour class

Yoga for Life is an amazing 1 hour class including an intention for each class (example: peace, grace, calming). The class begins with guidance to stretch and focus so you can actually “lose yourself” to the practice with no outside distractions. Mary has a gift of instructing to all levels of students at the same session - advanced, modified for less experience or rehab from an injury. I always walk away from my yoga practice feeling better about myself and the day ahead of me. Mary is one of the kindest people I know - she has been a blessing in my life ❤️

I love Mary’s chair yoga class and how she gently corrects our form as needed

I attend Mary's Chair Yoga class and love it. The first thing I noticed was how positive and encouraging Mary is.  She explains everything as she demonstrates and comes around gently correcting our form as needed. Mary always reminds us to be mindful of our limitations. Mary is a fantastic teacher who has all of her students’ best interests at the forefront of each class. We are taught the proper names for our poses as well as what that pose might strengthen along with breathing techniques. There is always something new to learn or a new twist to something we already know. As mentioned, I love the positive reinforcement Mary gives us all and I feel so much better going to her class!

We just love Mary and look forward to her chair yoga classes each week

This past May, my wife Lisa and I just completed three years of partaking in Mary Wehlage’s Chair Yoga class in Hartland that meets twice a week.  We just love the way that Mary makes everyone feel comfortable and is always making sure that participants are careful not to overextend or bend while doing a certain pose. She invites us all out of our chairs and perhaps only use our chairs for balance if necessary. Safety is always a concern for Mary. Her wonderful smile and happy instruction makes our day.

My wife, Lisa is a stroke survivor and is right-side weak.  Mary has her do the various poses in her chair twice with her left side.  She moves her chair if necessary and sets her up with blocks, belts, or an extra chair to make sure my wife is safe and able to do the pose to her best ability.  The other attendants in our class are of various ages and abilities. Mary talks us all through and gives us various ways to perform the given pose. She will assist when necessary.   We just love Mary and look forward to her classes each week. We would recommend anyone to come join us no matter what your abilities are. We have all become very good friends over the years.

Mary always keeps the classes, poses, and lessons fresh!

I started my yoga journey and instruction with Mary over 5 years ago… and what a great journey it is!  Mary is a wonderful, knowledgeable instructor and always keeps the classes, poses, and lessons fresh!  She brings new learning experiences to the class, and she balances her classes to all levels of her students!  I’m honored to have Mary as my instructor and receive her guidance through my practice.  “The light and spirit in me always honors the light and spirit in you!”

I love the way Mary helps us to develop strength and conditioning no matter our age or starting point

I have been doing “Yoga for Life” with Mary Wehlage for over 5 years and have the highest regard for the yoga practice that Mary has developed at the Hartland Community Center. Mary provides variety and challenge in her yoga classes, while offering appropriate modifications to suit the varied needs and abilities of her many students. I love the way Mary helps us to develop strength and conditioning through our yoga workouts no matter our age or starting point, while helping us to build confidence and share camaraderie with fellow yoga students. Her caring personality and seasoned knowledge of safe and invigorating yoga for mind, body, and spirit makes me very grateful for the opportunity to do yoga with Mary Wehlage. (And her neck massages and essential oils are always a big bonus!)

Mary shares positive intentions, quotes, and poems that create a warm & welcoming atmosphere

I have learned so much about yoga through Mary’s classes.  Mary creates a warm, welcoming atmosphere as she shares a positive intention followed by a quote or poem that is inspirational and heart-warming.  As our bodies awaken, beautiful background music enhances our practice. Mary is an excellent practitioner.  She clearly explains the poses and encourages us to be in tune with our own self as we nourish the mind, body and spirit.  Mary’s passion for teaching yoga shines through at every class.  I leave her classes feeling peaceful and stress-free.

Mary's classes have helped me improve my overall flexibility

I have been attending Mary’s ‘Yoga for Life’ for about 18 months. I originally signed up to improve my general health and to specifically target flexibility and balance. I can really tell the difference in my ability to work through the poses and in my overall flexibility. Mary does a great job leading the class, teaching the poses and offering alternative techniques for all levels of attendees. Her classes are terrific and I look forward to them every week!

Mary's Yoga for Life and Chair Yoga classes have enriched my health and well-being

I have been taking Mary's "Yoga for Life" class twice a week since she began teaching for the Hartland Community Center. I have also taken her Chair Yoga class while recovering from surgery. Both classes have enriched and supported my health and well-being. Mary is an attentive and caring instructor who guides each student to do their very own personal best while on their yoga mat. She is always supportive and encouraging, no matter where the students are in their own yoga practice or what their individual level is. Mary's classes have been growing as people are discovering the many benefits of developing a personal yoga practice while, at the same time, having the support and guidance of a dedicated teacher like Mary. We are so lucky to have her help and support on our yoga journeys.

There is no need to keep up with anyone else in the class

I have taken yoga with Mary Wehlage for several years now.  From the first class I have been impressed with her care of each of her students.  She reminds us that it is our practice and we should change any movement that would stress an injury we have.  There is no need to keep up with anyone else in the class. I am thankful to have found such an easy and gentle way to stay in good health taught by a teacher who truly values each and every student.

Mary is an expert at adapting poses so everyone feels they have done their best

I have been taking Mary Wehlage’s class for over ten years and it is such an important part of my life that I have referred many people. I believe yoga can improve all aspects of any physical activity as well as support body and spiritual awareness.

Mary is encouraging and positive during her classes so that everyone is successful and she is an expert at adapting poses so everyone feels they have done their best.

She has a sense of humor, is respectful of limitations, and truly cares about each and every one of her students.

I love Mary’s classes!

I love how I feel at the end of each class...

I have been practicing yoga with Mary Wehlage for several years.  When I started I had very little upper body strength. I now can easily do planks and my balance and flexibility have greatly improved.  Mary keeps our yoga practices fresh.  The best thing is I don’t have to do the planning.  I come to each session, uncluttered my mind and listen to her clear instructions.  I love how I feel at the end of each class.

Mary has created a warm sense of community while keeping yoga fun

I started practicing yoga with Mary in 2009.  She is an exceptionally talented instructor and true guide on my yoga journey.  She has created a warm sense of community while keeping yoga fun.

Mary is a natural teacher and compassionate mentor.  She gives very clear verbal directions to make transitions and to get into the correct positions.  She also demonstrates poses that are very easy to follow.  Mary is able to teach students of varying abilities in the same class. She is respectful of students with limitations and aware of those who need to be pushed harder. She is excellent at providing modifications and reminders to rest if you need it.  On the flip side, Mary will almost always give instruction on ways to kick it up and occasionally inserts new challenging poses.

In addition to the physical aspects, I enjoy the meditations and interesting knowledge Mary shares regarding yoga.  I like that she says the Sanskrit and common names of poses so you learn them by both.  I have learned so much from Mary and because of her yoga has had a very positive impact on my life.  I highly recommend taking one of Mary’s yoga classes.

I leave Mary's classes feeling fulfilled physically, emotionally and spiritually

I love "Yoga For Life" with Mary!  I have faithfully participated in her class for more than seven years.  Mary varies her choreography each week, so many of her poses become familiar - with new ones occasionally added to the mix. Mary is cognizant of people's abilities and/or injuries and gives modifications often. Mary is kind and encouraging in her comments. During the tree of life balance pose, Mary will say," Trees sway and fall in the wind all the time. If you sway, just return to the pose. Our balance is different each day."  I love the flow of the varied poses during class and the relaxation/contemplation time at the end. Mary reads short inspirational passages to reflect upon. I leave feeling fulfilled physically, emotionally and spiritually.
